Portraiture Should Feel Intentional.
Not rushed
Not Overly Posed.
Not Created For Social Media
Every session begins with a conversation and planning so the finished portraits feel personal to your family, your relationships, and the space where the artwork will ultimately live.
The goal is not simply to take photographs, but to create something meaningful enough to remain part of your life for years.
It Starts with a Phone Call
A typical phone call lasts about 15 minutes. We will go over what you are looking for and see if I’m the right fit for you. If so, then we can start the process.
The Planning Phase
Every Portrait Experience Begins With an In-Studio Meeting
This gives us the opportunity to discuss your family, the relationships you want to preserve, where the portraits may live in your home, and the overall feeling you want the final artwork to carry.
During this meeting, you’ll also be able to see and experience sample artwork in person, including framed pieces, albums, and folio boxes, allowing us to thoughtfully plan the session around how the finished portraits will ultimately be enjoyed.
This planning process helps create portraits that feel personal, cohesive, and intentionally connected to your life rather than generic or interchangeable.
The Session
Rather than chasing perfection, the focus is placed on connection, personality, and creating portraits that feel emotionally honest to the people within them
Portrait sessions are designed to feel relaxed, intentional, and unhurried.
Most people are not used to being professionally photographed, and they are not expected to know exactly what to do. Throughout the session, I guide posture, expression, movement, and interaction in a way that feels natural rather than stiff or overly posed.
Because sessions are not built around strict time limits, there is space to slow down rather than rush. Children are given room to settle naturally instead of being pushed into forced smiles or perfect behavior, allowing the portraits to feel more genuine to who they truly are.
Whether in the studio or on location, sessions are approached thoughtfully and with the flexibility to adjust, collaborate, and create something meaningful together.
Artwork & Installation
Your artwork deserves to be displayed with care. For those in the Lynchburg area, I’ll personally deliver and install your custom pieces, ensuring they’re perfectly placed and ready to be part of your home for generations.
Photographs are experienced differently when they leave the screen.
For that reason, every session is created with the finished artwork in mind from the very beginning. Whether through framed wall art, handcrafted albums, or folio boxes, the goal is to create portraits that feel lived with rather than stored away on a device.
After the session, we’ll meet in the studio to review the finished portraits together and thoughtfully select the artwork and presentation options that best fit your home and the emotional significance of the images themselves. During this process, you’ll be able to experience product samples in person and visualize how the finished pieces may ultimately live within your space.
